Cardiac Health: Cardiac Diseases, Types, Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

Heart Disease is a broad term used for many types of cardiac conditions, in which Coronary artery disease is very common in USA, in which blood flow is affected and which may result in heart attack.

Heart Arrhythmia:

  • slow pulse
  • slow or fast beating pattern
  • dizziness
  • dizziness
  • chest pain

  • drug abuse
  • stress
  • diabetes
  • coronary artery disease

  • chest pain
  • breath shortening
  • usual pain
  • weakness
  • Limited supply of blood to the organs due to plaque in arteries.

Coronary artery disease:

  • Fats developed in arteries
  • Chest pain
  • Breath shortening
  • pressure in chest
  • nausea

Valve disease:

Four heart valves are;

  • Pulmonary
  • Mitral
  • Tricuspid
  • Aortic

These valves allow blood flow to heart chambers, blood vessels and lungs.  The problem can be;

Valves get blocked partially which disturb the blood flow.

Leakage of Valves result in blood flow in wrong direction.

Theses defects make it difficult for valve to open and close in correct way.

It is actually a heart muscles disease in which heart muscles get thick and rigid, result in irregulating the sequence of heart pump.

  • Bloating
  • Fatigue
  • Rapid pulse
  • Swollen legs

Congenital heart defects:

It is a pre-birth type of heart diseases. Congenital heart defects mainly occur inside the womb with the baby growth.

Septal defects:

There are holes in the heart which divide the parts/sides of the heart (Right & Left. It can be treated with Surgery. These defects may increase with the time and affect the normal flow of the blood in the heart.

  • Blue-tinged skin
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Low energy
  • Abnormal heart rhythm

Heart infections:

These infections are common in adults and they include;

  • Inflammation inside the heart chambers and valves called Endocarditis.
  • Inflammation of protective sac called Pericarditis.
  • Inflammation in the heart muscles area called Myocarditis.

  • Fever
  • Chest pain
  • Skin rash
  • Fever

Heart attack:

Heart attacks mainly occur because of the blockages in the blood vessels and damage to the heart muscles which damages part of heart muscles. The signs of cardiac attacks may vary in different individuals.

  • Sweating
  • Arms, neck and back pain
  • Pain in the Chest

Diagnosis are listed as under.

This test the electrical calculations which give the idea about hear health. It also detect the abnormality in the heat beat and the size and can detect the damaged areas in the heart.

Ct scan:

CT Scan is the imaging of the heart which provide the detailed heart health overview.

Heart MRI:

It is also used to get the detailed image of the heart along with blood vessels.

Coronary angiography:

Special X-rays and dye are used to check the internal condition of coronary arteries.

Blood test:

Testing of Enzymes to know about the level of the damage to the heart.

The type of disease decide what type of treatment the patient needs. Few are given as under.

Arteries are kept open with the help of medicines such as aspirin.

Anticoagulants (blood thinners):

Blood thinner are used to prevent the productions of blood clots, which are the main causes of stroke and heart attacks.

It is helpful in making the heart rhythm normal.

ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme):

Inhibitors prevent the production of the material which narrow down the blood vessels. It is helpful in case of heart failures and after cardiac attacks.

Heart Surgery and other medical procedures are done when the disease is more complicated and worse & when medications don’t work.
