Not sure exactly what's causing it? Start with what you're feeling. Each pain type below links to a page with more detail on symptoms, causes, and treatment options, so you can read up before you come in or simply book straight away.
Chronic pain has a way of becoming background noise, something you plan around instead of something you fix. You stop taking the stairs. You skip the activities that used to be automatic. Over time, working around pain starts to feel normal, even though it isn't.
Most of the conditions described on this page respond well to treatment that doesn't involve surgery or months of recovery. Many patients start with a same-week evaluation and leave with a clear plan, not a referral into a long wait somewhere else. That plan might mean shockwave therapy, PRP, a steroid injection, or a combination, depending on what's actually going on with the joint or tendon involved.
The right approach depends on what's actually causing your pain, not a script. Dr. Azimi walks you through the options that fit your specific joint or tendon during your visit, and here's what each one involves and what tends to matter to patients weighing the choice.

A non-invasive option well suited to tendon and soft-tissue pain. There are no needles or incisions involved, treatment is delivered over a short series of in-office sessions with no downtime afterward, and you do not need a referral to get started. Pricing is transparent, self-pay pricing, currently $135 for a single session and as low as $115 per session on a longer package, so you know the cost upfront rather than waiting on an insurance authorization.
Learn more about shockwave therapy.
A quick in-office injection that provides fast, targeted relief during a painful flare. It can work well on its own for a short-term flare-up, or alongside another treatment while a longer-term plan takes effect.
Learn more about steroid joint injections.
A regenerative option that uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to support your body's natural healing response in the joint or tendon involved, often worth asking about when pain is chronic or keeps recurring.
Learn more about PRP therapy.None of these require a hospital stay or general anesthesia, and most patients are able to return to normal activity the same day or within a day or two, depending on the treatment and the joint involved.
Care is led by Dr. Umayr Azimi, MD, who is dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine and serves as Medical Director of MI Express Urgent & Primary Care. Rather than jumping straight to surgery or long-term medication, Dr. Azimi's approach starts with the least invasive option that fits your condition, and involves you in the decision at every step.
Both locations offer walk-in and same-week scheduled visits, seven days a week: the Canton clinic at 44237 Michigan Ave, Canton, MI 48188, and the Ann Arbor clinic at 80 S Zeeb Rd, Unit 101C, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. You do not need a referral to be evaluated for pain at either location.
Book My AssessmentNo referral is needed. You can walk in or schedule a visit directly at either the Canton or Ann Arbor location for a pain evaluation.
Shockwave therapy is a cash-based treatment and is not billed to insurance. Other options like PRP or steroid injections may be covered depending on your plan, so ask our team during scheduling.
That depends on which joint or tendon is involved and how long you've had symptoms. Dr. Azimi will recommend a treatment path after evaluating you in person.
Often, yes. Both locations offer walk-in visits, and same-week scheduled appointments are typically available if you would rather book ahead of time.
