When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

MI Express Urgent Care is equipped to handle a wide range of non-life-threatening conditions. However, some situations require an emergency room visit. Please call 911 or go directly to the nearest ER if you or someone with you is experiencing:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness that may indicate a heart attack
  • Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or choking
  • Signs of a stroke: sudden face drooping, arm weakness, or speech difficulty
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with throat swelling or loss of consciousness
  • Uncontrolled bleeding that does not slow with pressure
  • Loss of consciousness or unresponsiveness
  • Severe head trauma or suspected spinal injury
  • Seizures or sudden severe confusion

When in doubt, always err on the side of caution and call 911. Our urgent care team can assess borderline cases and refer or stabilize patients when needed.
